David Game College Liverpool opens in partnership with LILA*
London-based David Game College has officially opened a campus in Liverpool as a collaboration with LILA*, offering higher education preparation courses and football training in partnership with the Steven Gerrard Academy.
Based in the city centre at LILA’s campus, David Game College Liverpool will welcome students aged 16 and over from September, and will prepare students for entry to higher education programmes by offering A Level and University Foundation Programmes (UFP).
Students will also have the option of adding an elite football coaching course from the Steven Gerrard Academy.
David Game College Group was established as an independent, co-educational college in London in 1974, and offers a range of GCSE and A Level courses, while its UFP is recognised by more than 90 universities. The partnership with LILA* – which was first announced last year – creates its first campus outside of the south of England.
Tom Davis, Principal at David Game College Liverpool, said, “LILA* has been around for 18 years and has been characterised by a passion for building a skillset that can take students out into the world as successful members of whatever community they come from. David Game College’s roots, which are in the tutorial system, are also focused on allowing students to be the best version of themselves, so our alliance with LILA* just seemed like a natural partnership.
“What we want is for this partnership to produce opportunities for students that open doors and possibilities in their own minds that they may not have considered before.
Leanne Linacre, Owner/Director at LILA* – English language school and Sixth Form College (pictured right), said, “David Game College has got a fantastic reputation. They have been going since 1974 and deliver courses with integrity and a real high level of expertise. They are very inclusive and they make sure students have the opportunity to be the best they can be in a relaxed environment.
“LILA* is the first David Game campus outside of the south of England, and there is nothing like David Game here in the Liverpool city region – it is a positive, supportive and inclusive place for a student to take their first steps. For that reason, we think we can bring something special to the city and wider city region.”
The Steven Gerrard Academy (SGA) was established in 2011 as the LFC Foundation College and former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard formed an official partnership in 2019. SGA is sponsoring two A-level scholarships worth UK£25,000 for local students aged 16-to-18.
LILA* Language School is accredited by the British Council, is a member of English UK and Quality English, and is a test centre for Cambridge Assessment English and OET exams, while Leanne is the Chair of the Association of Language Travel Organisations (ALTO).
