Part of the David Game Group

LILA* College marries the expertise of London’s David Game College in order to deliver an outstanding level of education for students enrolled on our University Foundation Programme.

Course Overview

The University Foundation Programme (UFP) Law, Humanities & Social Sciences Foundation Pathway is a one-year (September start) or 6-month intensive (January start) foundation course, which will prepare you for a wide range of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences bachelor degrees.

The UFP Law, Humanities & Social Sciences Foundation Pathway allows students to gain critical analysis, evidence gathering and argument evaluation skills. Students also develop an appreciation for differences in society, culture and human behaviour.

The employability skills gained on the UFP Law, Humanities & Social Sciences Foundation Pathway, such as strong critical thinking and communication skills, are highly valued by employers in all job sectors. The UK has a rich history of cutting-edge study and career options in Law, Humanities and Social Sciences and is home to some of the oldest and best-funded institutions in the world, making it the perfect place to study this subject area. The British legal system is the most widely used and recognised in the world and an understanding of this complex system will prepare students for any degree related to this challenging field.

Course Modules

In the first phase of the one year pathway, students complete the three minor modules:

  • Mathematics
  • Information Technology
  • Communications Skills/IELTS

In phases 2 and 3 students choose three major modules from the following:

  • Law
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • Economics

If students elect to follow the January start intensive pathway, they will study both Phase 1 and Phase 2 at the same time between January and Easter. They will then study Phase 3 alone between Easter and June.

Teaching and Assessment

The UFP Law, Humanities & Social Sciences Foundation Pathway is continually assessed, thus removing the pressure of an end-of-year examination. There will be mid-term examinations throughout the course and an end-of-term examination for each module. In addition, students are required to complete coursework.

We offer a university-approved syllabus which fully prepares students for their undergraduate studies. Our teachers are highly qualified and are specialists in their field. The exceptional standard of education allows students to make a smooth transition to undergraduate degree-level study.
